Jeff Overton - Senior Pastor

Pastor Jeff was called to Mars Hill Baptist Church in August of 2020 after having pastored several churches in Georgia and Florida. He is a 1984 graduate of Shorter College and a 2000 graduate of Luther Rice Seminary. He loves sports, especially college football and the Alabama Crimson Tide. He is married to his wife Cheri, and they have two children - son, Winston (and his wife Amanda) and daughter Courtney (and her husband, Kiley). They also have three grandchildren, Parker, Emmie and Avery.


Robin Kidd - Associate Pastor/Music


Robin has a long history at Mars Hill serving as a deacon, Life Focus Teacher and choir member before heeding God’s call to ministry. A member of Mars Hill since 2004, he has been leading as the Full-Time Worship Pastor since 2009. He also continues to teach a weekly Life Focus class, plays a leadership role in discipleship, and manages finances for the church office. Alongside his wife, Jessica, he is a proud parent to Truitt and Molly. Robin holds a degree from Tennessee Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

Ben Emerson - Associate Pastor/Student Ministry


Ben joined the Mars Hill staff in 2015, where he directs the student ministry for 6th through 12th graders. With over twenty years of experience in student ministry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his role. Ben holds a degree in Biblical Studies from Mid-Continent University, a Master Degree in Youth and Families from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently completing his Doctorate Degree from North Greenville University. He is fervently dedicated to guiding teenagers towards a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and empowering them to share their faith. Ben and his wife, Rachel, have four children: Atly, Jack, Asher, and Josiah.

Chad Moore -  Associate Pastor/Missions, Evangelism & Outreach


Bro. Chad dedicated thirteen years as a Senior Pastor in the local area prior to joining the Mars Hill Baptist Church team. With his talents in evangelism and outreach, he is inspiring our church family to embrace innovative approaches to community and foreign missions engagement for Christ. His wife, Rachael, serves as the assistant principal at Lawrence County High School, and together they are proud parents of three sons: Jake, Tate, and Mack.

Peyton Buie - Associate Pastor/Children


Peyton is known for his passion and creativity in nurturing young minds. With a strong background in education and child development, Peyton focuses on creating an engaging and safe environment for children to explore their faith. They skillfully combine biblical teachings with fun activities, ensuring that children enjoy learning and growing in their spiritual journey. Peyton's dedication not only enriches the lives of the children but also involves the entire family in the church's community life.

Gary Hughes-Associate Pastor-Celebrate Recovery


Since 1994, Brother Gary has been committed to bi-vocational ministry. Together with his wife, Sherri, they take pride in their two adult children: Chad, who is married to Shannon, and Beth, married to Kyle. They are also blessed with six grandchildren: Alexa, Anna, Ethan, Jacey, Josey, and Zoey. At the helm of our Celebrate Recovery Program, Bro. Gary's deep compassion for others and profound love for our Savior are the driving forces behind his service.

 Tina Dodd- Ministry Assistant/Secretary


Tina is a blessing to the church staff, serving as the Gate Keeper of our office. She provides a welcoming presence as the first point of contact for our guests, whether they are arriving in person or calling in. Tina and her husband, Troy, are proud parents to three grown children: Halee, who is married to Ken; Josh, married to Rebecca; and Kaila. They also cherish their five grandchildren: Lilly, Charli, Lexie, Lola, and Tate.


Jan McMasters – Ministry Assistant


Jan, a dedicated member of Mars Hill and a retired schoolteacher, has played a pivotal role as the VBS (Vacation Bible School) Director for many years, contributing significantly to its success. Now working part-time in the office, she offers invaluable support to the staff, assisting with various tasks to advance the church's ministry.
